Internship Greenpeace Investigations

This is an unpaid internship.

Greenpeace is an independent, peaceful and non-partisan organisation denouncing environmental threats and promoting solutions to protect the environment and further world peace.

We are currently looking for an intern to join our investigations officer, who carries out in in-depth research aiding in the understanding of the different layers and actors of systems causing the climate and biodiversity crises. The work done by our investigations officer supports the broader campaigns of Greenpeace Belgium.

Internship timeline: 26th October 2026 - 31st January 2027 (with a possible pause during the exams and a possibility of extension).

What you will be doing:

• Screening parliamentary and local debates on specific questions the investigations officer will have identified.

• Collecting and analysing tweets of people and companies, with tools and techniques provided by the investigations officer.

• Analysing annual reports of companies.

• Helping make power maps of companies and institutional bodies.

• Making comprehensive summaries of reports.

Greenpeace Belgium has its office near Tour & Taxis, and offers opportunities to work from home.

Your profile

• You want to learn about investigative tools and techniques.

• You are not scared of spreadsheets, databases and meticulous work.

• You are studying journalism, political sciences, communications or economics.

• You are fluent in English, fully fluent (spoken and written) in either French or Dutch, and proficient in written form in the other language.

• You are curious and have an investigative personality, persistent and persevering. You enjoy looking for needles in a haystack without frustration.

• You express ideas in a clear and concise manner.

• You are thorough with strong attention to detail.

• You are able to work independently, while asking for guidance when needed.

• You have experience using Microsoft Office applications, primarily Word and Excel, as well as their Google Drive counterparts.
